Let Talk April 5, 2016

Last time in my Pastor’s Corner, I discussed the idea of our church being more involved in the community. I wrote that partially because that is genuinely the direction in think we ought to be headed, but also, our church was already moving in that direction in many ways. Several weeks ago, the Mary Martha ladies group all pitched in and bought the women's shelter 48 pillows so that women and children who stay at the shelter have a fresh pillow when they arrive and something to take with them when they leave! The youth also collected over 300 items like shampoo, toothpaste, soap etc, for the women and children who live in the shelter.
The Phebe group has adopted a nursing home, and the Quilters and Comforters have always donated their works to people in need. I could not be prouder of our congregation at this time. I give thanks to these servants of God who put their faith into action.

May the peace of Christ Guard your hearts and minds as you live in him.

Attending worship service on Sunday morning gets my week started out great and with a purpose. I take great joy in service to the members of my church being a deacon. It is an honor to partake of the Lord's Supper. The format of the worship service is similar to the way it was when I was a boy growing up in this church. My parents were faithful members here and I can touch their memories each Sunday. Sometime certain hymns bring back wonderful memories of my parents, Red & Jeane Williams. I also enjoy and take comfort from fellowship with my church family and friends. We are so fortunate to have Rev. Jordan Byrd. He brings insight and clarity to the scriptures in a unique way. I always gain knowledge from his messages and also practicable ways to apply God's Word into everyday life experiences.
