CLEANUP OPPORTUNITIES FOR RECENT FLOODING

Jun 7, 2016

UPDATE: Folks answered the call.

It's time to serve! Saturday morning at 8:45, we are going to meet at the church and head over to Timber drive and a few other locations to clean out the creeks that have been clogged with debris as a result of the flood. If you can pick up trash or do some heavy lifting, come help us. We need you!!! (Probably should bring your rubber boots and gloves!)

The devastating floods that hit Palestine, Texas the early morning hours of April 30, 2016 have had a great impact on many lives here in Palestine. First Christian Church has been at the forefront of efforts to clean up and restore lives and homes damaged by those rising waters. Our very own Jordan Byrd has been center of those activities from the very first morning and is still leading the way, following the example of Jesus Christ in His service of community and people in need. Take a look at some of the efforts made by our folks here at First Christian Church and community members pitching in to help. Additional pictures are in 2016 FLOOD RELIEF ALBUM.

Attending worship service on Sunday morning gets my week started out great and with a purpose. I take great joy in service to the members of my church being a deacon. It is an honor to partake of the Lord's Supper. The format of the worship service is similar to the way it was when I was a boy growing up in this church. My parents were faithful members here and I can touch their memories each Sunday. Sometime certain hymns bring back wonderful memories of my parents, Red & Jeane Williams. I also enjoy and take comfort from fellowship with my church family and friends. We are so fortunate to have Rev. Jordan Byrd. He brings insight and clarity to the scriptures in a unique way. I always gain knowledge from his messages and also practicable ways to apply God's Word into everyday life experiences.
