PRAYER FOR THE WEEK April 22, 2019

Apr 22, 2019

Lord, here we stand during holy week. The week where the dome of reality shattered and the glass was rearranged into a new pattern. This is also the week that the veil was torn in two and the holy and the mundane would forever be the same. In the midst of grief, sickness, and loss it feels as if the glass dome which keeps us safe has broken once again and lacerated us with falling glass. Now we stand bleeding; feeling forsaken in a field of jagged edges. Remind us, oh Lord, that this glass, stained with our blood will create new patterns; which you will help us build into new windows for holy places. Because the dome that is broken is the one that separates life and death. It is by virtue of these shattered baptisms that heaven and earth become one. We pray this in the name of the one who also bled into new patterns, in whose glory and honor all the stained glass of the world is fashioned. In the name of Christ Jesus who tears down the walls between life and death, Amen.

Attending worship service on Sunday morning gets my week started out great and with a purpose. I take great joy in service to the members of my church being a deacon. It is an honor to partake of the Lord's Supper. The format of the worship service is similar to the way it was when I was a boy growing up in this church. My parents were faithful members here and I can touch their memories each Sunday. Sometime certain hymns bring back wonderful memories of my parents, Red & Jeane Williams. I also enjoy and take comfort from fellowship with my church family and friends. We are so fortunate to have Rev. Jordan Byrd. He brings insight and clarity to the scriptures in a unique way. I always gain knowledge from his messages and also practicable ways to apply God's Word into everyday life experiences.
