JORDAN BYRD RECEIVES AWARD

Feb 22, 2022

First Christian Church of Palestine is delighted to announce that our pastor, the Reverend Jordan Byrd, was formally presented with the Paul Harris Fellow Award on February 15, 2022 at the Rotary Club of Palestine Satellite Meeting. Rotarian Sharon Grizzle gave $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation to recognize the many ways that Jordan Byrd has served citizens in Palestine and his leadership on Rotary Service Projects over the last several years.

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition was begun by Rotary International in 1957 to show appreciation for individuals who have made substantial contributions to the Rotary Foundation. Several notables receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Awards include Mother Teresa, President Jimmy Carter and Astronaut James Lovell.

We are very proud that our pastor was recognized for his outstanding service to our community.

Attending worship service on Sunday morning gets my week started out great and with a purpose. I take great joy in service to the members of my church being a deacon. It is an honor to partake of the Lord's Supper. The format of the worship service is similar to the way it was when I was a boy growing up in this church. My parents were faithful members here and I can touch their memories each Sunday. Sometime certain hymns bring back wonderful memories of my parents, Red & Jeane Williams. I also enjoy and take comfort from fellowship with my church family and friends. We are so fortunate to have Rev. Jordan Byrd. He brings insight and clarity to the scriptures in a unique way. I always gain knowledge from his messages and also practicable ways to apply God's Word into everyday life experiences.
